Our Status – Non Profit Corporation
The Chesapeake Health Education Program is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit corporation established in 1990. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Revocable License between the Corporation and the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) allows a close but separate working relationship with the Department of Veterans Affairs to accomplish continuing education for health care providers and the provision of transitional housing for homeless veterans.
CHEP’s corporate office is located on Perry Point Campus of the VA Maryland Health Care System in Northeast Maryland and provides accredited continuing education programs for health care professionals. CHEP maintains strong partnerships with a variety of community groups, offers a strong annual curriculum and customizes programs to fit both local and national venues. Through the administration and sponsorship of grants, training programs and housing, CHEP continuously works to break the cycle of homelessness among men and women who once wore the military uniform of this country. To this end, CHEP has the ability provide transitional housing and supportive services to 123 formerly homeless veterans each day in Charleston, South Carolina, Washington, D.C. and Perry Point, Maryland.
