Chesapeake Health Education Program

These courses present core competency preparation for those providing health care in today’s employment world. Basic Heart Saver CPR, Emergency Care, and classes on blood borne pathogens are but a few of the courses targeted to insure a workforce that is safe and prepared to deal with health threatening situations. The unique facet of this specialty is that the courses are offered at the standard CHEP class sites, but will also be offered at a provider’s site, in an office practice setting, or at an industrial site. Finally, there is consideration being given to acquiring and offering training on automatic external defibrillators (AED’s) within the industrial and clinical settings. All these new areas will better prepare our local personnel for the new urgent needs of our world.

Workplace Safety Training

In recent years, there has been a major change in the needs of local health care workers. These have been formed by international events experienced by all Americans. We have aligned our educational offerings to meet the new demands of health providers. The following is a summary of Workplace Safety Training programs. Please see our course descriptions and schedule in the Upcoming Events section.

Pre-Hospital

Pre-hospital – This specialty engages medical first responders and first providers with training to treat individuals of mass casualties, emergency situations, and unexpected disasters. This specialty includes our standard offerings such as ACLS, and PALS, but more importantly opens new learning approaches for caregivers who work with patients before they are admitted to an acute care facility. This specialty insures an adequacy of knowledge for those committed to disaster readiness whether due to hurricanes, floods, terrorist attacks, biohazards, or mental health reactions to disaster stress.
