Oral Sedation for Dentistry
Friday, May 21, 2010

Sedation dentistry provides an ideal environment for the ultimate in a relaxed dental experience. Patients remember little of the appointment and feel as though hours are mere minutes. With oral sedation dentistry, both your most frightened patients and extensive appointments are transformed into the best visits. Learn how to apply new safe and simple protocols to alleviate your fearful patients’ anxiety, as well as provide relaxation for your long dental procedures. Offering adult oral sedation provides many advantages to caring dentists, not the least of which is treating a more comfortable patient. Other advantages include: performing more dentistry is a single visit instead of requiring the patient to return again and again, bigger restorative cases from patients who were previously reluctant due to anxiety, and patients who feel little to no postoperative discomfort regardless of the procedure – resulting in more referrals.

Learning Objectives:

Describe how sedation dentistry can allow you to capture more restorative, cosmetic, endodontic, and implant cases from the massive market of over 100 million people who most benefit from these procedures.
Discuss how to adjust the level of sedation to fit your patient’s comfort as well as your technical needs
Discuss why what you don’t know can harm your patient.
List three reasons why oral sedation is so safe
List seven factors you must know to confidently deliver Sedation Dentistry
Which patients are appropriate for sedation and which are not.
Discuss how to provide maximum safety for both patient and practitioner
