Join us at a CHEP Event
One of the best ways to support CHEP is to come out and join us for one of our events! We’d love to have you!
Give a Housewarming Gift Basket
When our veterans graduate from the CHEP Housing Program and move on to independent living, they are often starting from scratch. We want to give them a starter kit to make their road ahead a little easier! The Housewarming Baskets are complete with kitchen essentials including, dishes, pans, utensils and cups along with bathroom items such as a shower curtain and hand soap. Learn more about our Housewarming Baskets here.
Join us in sending off our veterans with a starter kit for their new home by sponsoring a Housewarming Gift Basket.
Are you an employee of the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia that would like to support veterans in need? CHEP is part of the 2020 Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC) Charity List and DC One Fund.
When you give in-kind items to CHEP, you’re providing day to day essentials for veterans in need. You’re also helping us offset purchases that supplies participants with the necessities they need for a successful transition. This allows us to focus monetary donations to our programs, and helps us accomplish our mission of transitioning veterans in need to independent community living.
Our Amazon Wish Lists allow you to give in-kind donations to be sent directly to any of our three housing sites.
In addition to our Amazon Wish Lists, our housing sites also welcome donations of:
- Furniture in good repair
- Gently used clothing
- New and Unused Winter Supplies (Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats)
- Non-perishable food items
Please contact Carissa Merritt at [email protected] regarding your available donation items.
Sponsor a CHEP Veteran
When veterans enter the CHEP transitional housing program, they are provided with funds for groceries, bed and bath essentials, and a cell phone to use for employment and housing purposes, totaling an initial investment of $600, per CHEP veteran. In addition, once veterans move out of transitional housing, we often cover the cost of the security deposit, averaging $700-1000 for their independent living.
This equates to $1300 program investment per CHEP veteran, at a minimum.
Housing Repair Assistance
The Perry Point Transitional Homes are in need of repair. It is our goal to provide our veterans with comfortable and safe housing, and in that effort, we must make consistent updates to these homes.
Among our list of housing repairs, we need to:
- Install new HVAC systems to provide our veterans with adequate heat and air conditioning
- Repair the roofs
- Repaint all homes
Hire a Veteran
In order for our veterans to successfully transition to independent living, they need steady and secure employment. Employing a CHEP veteran allows them to gain the financial freedom they need for successful living.
Veterans joining your team come with an innate sense of teamwork, leadership and integrity. Their experience in our nation’s military has also provided them with an innovative outlook on technology and globalization, an accelerated learning curve and the ability to work under pressure.
