CHEP DC Vets permanent housing project offers eight (8) furnished one bedroom apartment units to veterans who were homeless or unstably housed. It is a Housing First model, meaning housing is prioritized without condition.
The goal of the project is to offer safe, affordable housing so that Veterans can break the cycle of poverty and achieve greater self-sufficiency.
CHEP DC Vets collaborates with regional partners to focus on equitable housing for veterans experiencing chronic homelessness, giving primary attention to strategies that maximize and optimize resources required to maintain and stabilize housing access and retention for a highly vulnerable population.
A major partner, US Vets provides the Veterans at CHEP DC Vets with connective services such as workforce development (employment assistance or career counseling), mental health and wellness services (individual and group counseling or substance use treatment), as well as individualized support (case management, and aftercare services).
